Biography

From 2006 to 2007 I was a distinguished postdoctoral fellow in the Simbios Center at Stanford University. There I contributed to the development of OpenSim, software for simulation and analysis of musculoskeletal models.
I received my Ph.D. from the Computer Science department at Stanford University in June 2006. My advisor was Ron Fedkiw, and my dissertation was on physically-based simulation of solids and solid-fluid coupling.
Between Sept. 2003 and June 2005 I consulted at Industrial Light + Magic, developing algorithms and tools for simulation of fluids and solids.
I received a Bachelor of Mathematics ("BMath. Be Proud." :)) in Computer Science and Pure Math from the University of Waterloo in April 2001. Through Waterloo's co-op program, I got a chance to work at some really cool places: I spent my first two work terms at DCIEM (a research branch of the Department of National Defence); my third work term at TrueSpectra; and my last two work terms at Side Effects Software. (For my sixth work term I took a break and travelled around Europe).

I also spent two summers ('01 and '02) working at Alias (formerly Alias|Wavefront) in Toronto.

Before UW, I attended Thornhill Secondary School (wow, their web page seems to work now!). Thornhill is just north of Toronto.
