Assignment 1: Bad Photos

Russell

Russell Patton: Under The Sea

To create an interesting fish/dolphin look, I started with a fluorescent dolphin lamp that I had, and using manual mode on my camera, set a shutter speed that resulted in significant underexposure. No PP.

My initial photos were a little bland, so I decided to add a fish to the photo using my phone. I found a picture online, turned phone brightness all the way up (to show up enough with the short exposure I was taking) and took another underexposed picture.

By selecting a sufficiently fast shutter speed, all areas of the photo except for the dolphin and fish appear black and create the above/underwater look that I wanted.
