Abstract

This work presents a new general approach for applying textures onto implicit surfaces. Its main contributions are:

These results provide a unified representation scheme for a variety of texturing techniques that were previously incompatible, allowing more efficient manipulation, storage, and rendering of textured objects, and a fuller use of current texture mapping hardware.

The paper will have particular appeal to readers with the following interests: applications of computer graphics relying on visual appeal (the entertainment industry, production companies, animators), commercial 3D texturing applications, optimization, and to everyone who likes implicit surfaces, attractive images, and novel ideas.
