Graphics Lab Trip

This year, the post-SIGGRAPH trip was snorkeling at Catalina Island!

The ride to the island was on a really fast boat. I don't know if we ever came to a consensus on whether or not it was technically a hydrofoil.

I had borrowed a friends underwater casing for my girlfriends digital camera, which proved to be a remarkably fun toy during this snorkeling trip. Sadly, the visibility was not fantastic, but we still got some neat shots.

VIDEOS: I also tried out taking some underwater videos. They are pretty jerky, though, because I was fighting the wetsuit to stay underwater. However, here they are:

There were a lot of fish, and some of them (as you can see here) were brightly colored. There were also some neat shiny blue fish, but they successfully evaded the photographer.

After the snorkeling, we wandered around the city (town?) a bit, got some ice cream and dinner, then headed home.
