Moving down a few years in the timeline, we next come to Duke Nukem3D, which came out in 1996. We see that the resolution of the bitmap has now increased, primarily due to an increase in available CPU memory. However, the sampling of the texture is still the single-sample "nearest neighbor" approach and the image still looks pixelated.
