Assignment 1: Bad Photos

Jay Thomason: Underexposed

This photo may be considered poorly exposed. I took it looking along the length of some train tracks as the sun was setting, thus the tracks reflected the sun very strongly. I adjusted the exposure on my camera to the maximum shutter speed such that the light on the tracks was not too bright. I didn't care if the rocks between the tracks were underexposed because I wanted to just capture the patterns of the tracks. Most of the photo is poorly exposed with the area between the tracks underexposed and part of the tracks on the left overexposed.

I made the photo BW, adjusted the contrast, and cropped it in Lightroom.
