Preheat oven to 335. Grease two baking sheets. In a mixer, cream the butter with both sugars until light and fluffy. Add the egg. Sift the flower with baking soda and salt, and gradually add to the mixer. Take the bowl off the mixer and blend in the chocolate chips and walnuts by hand. place heaping tablespoons of the dough about 2" apart and bake for about 15-18 minutes. Half way through the baking, rotate the baking sheets in the oven.
