Assignment 1: Bad Photos

Chris

Chris Lewis: REQUIREMENT 1: Poor Exposure

I took this photo as I was getting out of my car at Lake Lag just before sunset. It captures what I think is a compelling juxtaposition of man and nature: in particular, the runner and the handrails framed by the two trees. The silhouette effect adds a sense of mystery to the whole scene, and it emphasizes the solitude of the runner enjoying his evening jog around the lake.

I took this photo at ISO 100 to ensure that I wouldn't get too much light (and thereby ruin the silhouette effect). I used a fast shutter speed of 1/640 to minimize motion blur, and a medium aperture setting of f/13. I did not do any post-processing on the image.
