Assignment 6: Landscape

Michael

Michael Duarte: Restful Sunset

This photo was taken with a small aperture and a shutter speed of 200 and an ISO of 1600. Because it was sunset I was worried about the lack of light, but I still wanted detail as well as a fast enough shutter speed to make sure the splashing waves were not blurred. I really liked the framing of the rocks and flowers around the water and I tried to get the sun approximately and the corner of the shot to draw the viewers eye. I straightened the image in photoshop and reduced the barrel distortion so that the horizon line would actually be straight. I also reduced the highlights and lightened the shadows in order to bring out the sky while keeping the rocks visible.
