I dropped the development of this project in favor of my thesis work, but below are the slides for a presentation I gave on the project. Although it was useful for doing character recognition for Chinese/Japanese/Korean characters, there are a ton of heuristics and corner cases that have to be implemented to make CJK character detection, transcription, and translation work well for real-world photographs.
