Silhouette Maps for Improved Texture Magnification

Up to this point we have been looking at examples that have regions of constant color, like signs and vector artwork. The silhouette map textures made from these textures have looked great when magnified.

But how would they look for more natural textures? By "natural textures" I mean textures with more complex detail and colors in the regions separated by the discontinuities.
