We are currently investigating appearance models for human hair fibers. This work has three main aspects:

Experiment: Measuring the light scattering properties of hair fibers.
Theory: Producing theoretical models that explain these optical effects in terms of the microscale features of hair fibers.
Implementation: Designing efficient rendering algorithms to reproduce the visually significant effects associated with these optical scattering properties.
