This is a themed still life on the theme of mortality. The deer shoulder bone and skull show the end result of death which the flowers will soon experience. The delicacy of the yellow flowers also shows the precarious balance that all of life is in. The background is dark brown fake suede. The brown color places the bones and flowers in a more natural, woodsy setting. The material, fake suede, harkens to the feeling and texture of real deerskin.

For lighting, I had two sources. Natural lighting streamed in through the window and I used a desk lamp to cast highlights and shadows. The desk lamp had a slightly orange tint which I like because it complements the brown and yellows nicely.

I used Photoshop to crop the image.
