Banning the StoogeBot
How to Keep the Stooge off of Your Server
The StoogeBot will politely disconnect from any server that displays the phrase "no bots" as part of its center-printed "welcome" screen. We hope that this message will be obeyed by all future non-StoogeBots as well.
If you are not sure how to make the
required chanegs, you can download a version of the 1.06 progs.dat that has
been modified to include a "no bots please" message
(shift-click to save the file to your hard disk).
To use the new progs.dat on your
server:
1) Create a "nobots"
directory in your quake directory,
2) Copy the new progs.dat file into
the "nobots" directory
3) Use the argument "-game
nobots" when you start your server
You can also download copies of the quakeC files that we modified to add the "no bots please" message: defs.qc and client.qc.
